Snoring:

Snoring affects many of us and can be both embarrassing and disruptive. It affects our sleep and can often affect the sleep of those around us. Snoring is caused by the vibration of the soft tissue in your head and neck as you breathe in. While you’re asleep, the airways in your head and neck relax and narrow. It’s thought that the narrowing of the airways increases the speed you breathe out and changes air pressure in your airways. This causes the soft tissue to vibrate by sucking the sides of the airways in. Evidence suggests that snoring will get worse over time if left untreated. The vibrations that occur during snoring appear to damage blood vessels that supply muscles in the head and neck. Over many years, this causes the muscles to weaken. If your head and neck muscles are weakened, it will affect their ability to keep your airways open, making you more likely to snore frequently and loudly.

Solution:

Snoring can be a thing of the past with our custom made anti-snoring devices. Your Dentist can make moulds of your mouth and, with the help of our trusted lab technicians, we can make a comfortable device that sits snugly in the mouth at night. It works by gently thrusting the lower jaw forward, to prevent the jaw and tongue from falling back into the throat which restrict the air passage. This technique, referred to as mandibular repositioning, has been proven to eliminate airway obstruction and reduce or stop snoring.
